New Homes: We look at three of the best waterside developments

21.12.17

Three of the five exclusive over-55s apartments at Watersedge have already sold – including the 260 square metre penthouse, which traded for $3.5 million after initial expectations of about $3.7 million.

Watersedge has been designed by Lesiuk Architects, a firm known for its Balinese design bent and eco-friendly approach. The internal look and feel was crafted by SJB Interiors.

The building will employ the power of nature, with plants cascading over the exterior to give residents greater privacy and help cool the interiors in summer.

CABE development manager Joe Bevacqua expects the two remaining apartments to sell before Christmas. He says the business is interested in developing more small, premium projects “should the opportunities and zonings present themselves”.

The gentrification of Newcastle’s former industrial areas is stepping up with several new apartments on the drawing board at Wickham, to the west of the CBD.

One of those is WestEnd, a 126-apartment offering that will be housed in two buildings ranging from nine to 10 storeys high.

Wickham will be given a boost by a proposed $75 million state-government transport interchange to be built in the suburb. It will allow commuters to switch between trains, light rail, buses, taxis and private cars.

WestEnd will have the Newcastle CBD on one side and the harbour foreshore and the Hunter River mouth on the other. The apartments will be close to a walking trail that stretches along the foreshore to Nobbys Beach and lighthouse past a series of restaurants and cafes.

AFTER selling out of apartments on the lower floors of The Paper Mill earlier this year, developer Coronation Property has recently released 88 apartments in its river-front Liverpool offering.

The Woods Bagot-designed apartments are being built where one of Australia’s oldest and largest paper mills once operated. The design will blend re-purposed 19th-century heritage-protected industrial buildings with modern apartment towers.

The Paper Mill is 650 metres from Liverpool station and has buses nearby. Construction of the 29-storey development began this month.

The project has proved popular with buyers.  More than 500 apartments and two-level town homes have already been sold at the site, which incorporates The Paper Mill and The Bindery.

Presales Success for CABE’s East Side Quarter in Penrith

CABE’s $500 million lakeside development in Penrith, East Side Quarter (ESQ), has sold more than 60 per cent of stage 1 prior to their official launch. The 6.5-hectare urban village located at the foothills of the Blue Mountains and the doorstep of Penrith Panthers’ entertainment precinct offers benchmark design and postcard views designed from the ground up to meet the needs and desires of a new generation. “A record apartment price for Penrith of $950,000 was achieved with the sale of a penthouse style, 3 bedroom apartment,” Colliers International residential project director Blake Schulze said. “Buyers were motivated to snap up an apartment as they understand the strong growth potential of Penrith and the Western Sydney economy.” Penrith is currently reshaping its future as the heart of the New West. Multi-billion-dollar infrastructure projects such as Badgery Creek are forging stronger connections to wider Sydney and building a vibrant, activated city centre. Dynamic inner-city lifestyles, growing entertainment and enterprise hubs, a second Sydney airport, significant upgrades to university and hospitals, major road networks and more are creating a blueprint for the future that is placing Penrith firmly on the global map. “East Side Quarter appeals to all buyers from downsizers, to investors and first home buyers with oversized 1 bedroom apartments starting at $410,000,” Schulze said. “The strong buyer demand has been from the local market, with buyers quick to secure their apartments due to the urban community that ESQ offers with the connection to the Panthers Precinct,“ PRD Nationwide Penrith managing director Darren Latty said. “The sales success is a true testament to CABE’s development vision and the Turner Architects’ design, appealing to owner occupiers with a strong uptake from downsizers,” he added. As Penrith’s most visionary and bold new precinct, ESQ offers an all-encompassing lifestyle and residential quarter that will excite, involve and engage on multiple levels. Architecture firm Turner is creating transformational spaces of a type and scale never before seen. The masterplan for 850 one, two and three bedroom apartments maximises amenity for residents both inside and out. The vision is for a whole new urban experience that draws strength from a charismatic relationship between nature, its built form and multi-layered public and private spaces. ESQ’s Sales Display Gallery is located on Retreat Drive, Penrith. Setting Records in Penrith

Western Weekender Penrith Penrith’s newest property development, CABE’s East Side Quarter (ESQ) broke ground ahead of schedule last month due to outstanding sales success. The $500 million development next to Penrith Panthers also announced the appointment of local builder Astina Group. With stage one of the project already 77 per cent sold, the development is outperforming all other projects in western Sydney and broader Sydney, according to agents, Colliers International and PRD Penrith. “ESQ’s sales success is a result of the strong Penrith community support for the project, with locals drawn to its lifestyle offering and vibrant urban village setting,” CABE CEO Andrew James said. “It has appealed to all buyers from downsizers, to investors and first home buyers who understand the uniqueness of the site and its offering with running tracks, lakeside dining, wine bars, entertainment, high quality apartments and landscaped areas that would cover 10 football fields.” A record apartment price for Penrith of $950,000 was achieved with the sale of a penthouse style, three bedroom apartment. Director of Residential Project Marketing of Colliers International, Blake Schultze said most purchasers have come from the local Penrith area or the Blue Mountains. “Buyers have been motivated to snap up an apartment as they understand the strong growth potential of Penrith and the western Sydney economy,” he said. The appointment of Astina Group is great news for the local economy with the full amount of Penrith’s trusted tradespeople employed to complete the development. “As we are family owned, operated and residing in Penrith, being part of such a major project for not only Penrith but western Sydney means a lot to us,” Co-founder of Astina Group, William Schrumpf said. “We’re proud to be a part of delivering a new lifestyle for our growing community and look forward to exceeding their expectations.” The stage two release is scheduled for February 2019.
